Medeau: A Vegan Perfume Company
Every perfume company has a choice of whether to use animal-derived ingredients, and whether to test their products on animals, or not.
Medeau has chosen to partner with PETA to guarantee that all of our fragrances are vegan, and cruelty-free. We believe that using animal-derived products is a choice, and one that does not sacrifice either the luxury or the safety of the perfume by choosing to go vegan.
What is a vegan perfume?
Many perfumes still use animal musks, honey or beeswax as ingredients in their fragrances. In almost all cases, safe synthetic alternatives to animal-derived products are available.
Vegan fragrances are those which neither use products directly derived from animals, or where animals are bred to produce fragrance ingredients.
Cruelty-free: why does it matter?
Is your favourite perfume brand sold in mainland China? Any fragrance company that does so is required by law to test their products on animals beforehand. This means that even if a luxury perfume considers itself cruelty free in the way it sells to customers in North America, Europe or Australia, the animal testing required to access the large consumer market in China means that the brand is making decisions that we believe contribute to animal cruelty.
In recent years, there has been significant growth in the demand for vegan food, cosmetics and household products. We have been disappointed that progress in the perfume industry has been considerably slower.
Our mission is to lead the industry in vegan and cruelty-free perfume production.
